Arcadia Theatre Group
Arcadia was born seven years ago as the school theatre group for Secondary and Bachillerato. It is based on the literary cliché of the ideal place where everything is possible, idea which Lope de Vega continues in his novel “Arcadia”.
The first play performed by the group was an interlude by Miguel de Cervantes, The Jealous Old Man, which served as a springboard for the following performances: Don Mendo’s Revenge, Grease, The Blues Brothers, The Trickster of Seville, The Shadow of Don Juan, The Imaginary Invalid and finally, Othello, the Moor of Venice, by William Shakespeare.
Under the direction of 5 teachers: Raquel Hermosilla, Laura Estrela, Miguel Angel Burillo, June Chafe y Alfonso Castelao, year after year they convey enthusiasm, high hopes and the love of drama to all of their “Arcadian” student-actors, transcending the academic limits towards their personal development, making them grow emotionally.
Belonging to this theatre group means being part of a small family which shares vital experiences, because although the results are always applauded, the real magic lies in the journey throughout the year.
Here are some pictures and videos from last year’s performance. We hope you enjoy them!
