Video: German class at the Brains School.

“Students not only learn to communicate in German, but also discover the culture and customs of various German-speaking countries.”

German

The school offers German as a second language from Year 7 to Year 13. We follow the communicative method and we have a firm commitment to contribute to the development of basic skills. We ensure that the activities are based on meanings, allowing the students put their knowledge of German into practice as well as other aspects of their personality. Students do not only learn how to communicate in German but we also emphasize the culture and traditions of the different German-speaking countries.

From Year 10 we offer the option of taking the official Goethe-Institut exams, which are recognized worldwide and accredit the student’s level.

We also have a yearly exchange programme with a German school where the students live with a German family. This combines attending local school lessons during full days, sports, social and cultural activities. This experience means full immersion in the language, acquirement of knowledge and development of skills and abilities which guarantee adaptation in their professional future. Such an experience not only provides great linguistic progress but also a unique personal experience, helping the student mature and develop responsibilities.

We have a library full of resources which are available for the students to use at home and school. They include original version DVDs, German magazines and adapted readers.
